In February 2025, we said goodbye to our brick and mortar home of 30 years+ in Old Town, Alexandria. In pursuit of a new space and providing more on-the-go experiences, you can find us popping up throughout the DMV with our global and vintage finds, our bespoke services like polo boots and cowboy hats, and with our private label designs by Founder & Creative Director Alex Alvarez de Toledo.
For over 30 years, American In Paris was a destination for women's apparel and evolved into A Northern Virginia's destination for one-of-a-kind items boasting global sensibility & style right in the heart of Old Town, Alexandria.

Founded over 20 years ago byJoelle Solimano and her daughter Alexandra Alvarez de Toledo who today continues the legacy of her mother's shop while invigorating it with a renewed look and style.

Leveraging her globe-trotting experience as a fashion stylist, Alex sources and produces trend-forward creations along with timeless wardrobe staples suitable for women of all ages. Through our pop up experiences and bespoke services, clients discover independent labels and brands not commonly found elsewhere and with the goal of meeting the needs of women on the go.

MEET ALEX
Founder & Creative Director Alexandra Alvarez de Toledois a fashion stylist, designer and wardrobe consultant with a passion for culture, social impact and visual storytelling.
Known for her low-key luxury aesthetic, Alexandra’s styling has been featured within notable publications such as Vogue and L’Officiel and among countless celebrities.
A serial entrepreneur with a background in medical skincare technology, Alex is the brains behind American In Paris' cult product, Sunny Legs, which has become a best-seller and makeup artist must-have.
Leveraging her globe-trotting experience as a fashion stylist and costume designer, Alex sources and produces trend-forward creations along with timeless wardrobe staples suitable for women of all ages. When she’s not traveling the world to find new brands for the store, Alex splits her time between Northern Virginia and New York City.
